Fuel-cell powered MP3 player

This looks cool. I don't even have an iPod but I can wish for things like an MP3 player that is powered by Methanol. I wonder what the cost to refill it would be and how you would store it properly. It is good to see a company making strides towards using fuel-cell technology in products. It is a huge step in my opinion. Battery companies can't be happy about it.

If they try to fight it, they will lose. Much like record companies fought the emergence of MP3's. The company that embraces it and innovates will win.

Does Cold Fusion Scale?

I browse Myspace and notice more often than not, it is having "technical problems". If you look at the page extension it has .cfm which is Macromedia's ColdFusion extension. I know there are tons of users and their traffic is probably outrageous but it does beg the question; Does Cold Fusion scale?.

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery

If this doesn't remind you of something ahem OS X then...

It does look nice and "pretty" but what in the hell is it giving users other than a slick interface? There are already style editiors for XP. I have read many of the main features in this next version of Windows Vista have been scrapped. Is this a security upgrade? I am going to stay far away from this one for at least 2 years.

OSX on my PC

I am not going to install it but I do have a good friend who has a BOOTABLE OSX CD that runs on a PC. He says it is very fast and works well with SSE4 I think. He is going to install the emulated Firefox on it soon and see how it works. I guess the whole Trusted Computing thing isn't what it is cracked up to be. Unless someone else can chime in and tell me how Apple is going to save this one.

I know tons of people will be installing OS X on their PC's. Since Apple is a hardware company this can be bad. Some may argue this can be good too, look at Microsoft. I have to say I want to see it run on a PC. I use my Mac Mini a lot so I would be a good judge of speed and seeing quirks. If there aren't any I will be surprised to say the least.

Louisiana, what went wrong?

Watching the human-drama unfold in the flooded and abandonned parts of Louisiana is a sad reflection of our incompetencies. In particular the one that I think is on everyone's minds: "Why did it take 5 days to respond". Even at this point the rescue effort isn't going as well as it should. Bureaucracy is one of the reasons this has happened but most importantly the blame should be placed on FEMA. It is their reason for existence, to provide relief from such disasters but they have dropped the ball. It outrages me to read comments by FEMA Chief Michael Brown and his lack of recognizing the true situation.
Brown: Considering the dire circumstances that we have in New Orleans, virtually a city that has been destroyed, things are going relatively well.

Relative to what Hiroshima?

I truly hope this will be the shakeup that drops the rotten fruit from the horrid tree called FEMA.
